When I met Nisi at GiTCYS I remember thinking wow I hope we'll be friends she seems so cool. Well, she certainly was cool shoes!
I can't even say how much the years we spent at the U and running around together meant to me. Denise's warm and open personality and incredible talent - her smile and laugh that was so genuine. She was a truly beautiful human being.
Family Broadhurst please know that we are thinking of you here although we are a long way away.
DENISE BROADHURST
JUNE 11th 1970 - SEPTEMBER 19th 2008
We are heartbroken over the loss of Denise Broadhurst who passed away Friday September 19th after a long and a courageous battle with breast cancer. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by family and close friends. Denise was a wonderful daughter and sister, a good friend, and a gifted musician.
Denise was a truly remarkable person; she was infinitely kind, had a fantastic wit, and her generous spirit enriched the lives of the people around her.
Denise has always had a passion for music; from punk rock to classical, music was her life.
She was a beloved and dedicated teacher and has been selected to receive the State University of New York's Chancellor Award for Excellence in Teaching. As a tenured Assistant Professor of music at Nassau Community College and adjunct at Hosftra University she shared her love of music with her students. Her many compositions and performances will be here forever as a gift to us all.
Denise, you have touched so many lives. You are loved by many around the world.
We miss you and always will.......
