I'm remembering a look she gave me once. It marked the end of acquaintanceship and the beginning of friendship. I miss you, Denise.

I just wanted to note here that this coming Sat., Dec. 7, there will be a performance of Denise's beautiful choral piece "A Christmas Carol" by her devoted friends at the Community Singers of Queens, for whom Denise served as accompanist for 10 years. Details below:

We still miss Denise terribly and think of her fondly. Working on this piece we feel a bit of her wonderful presence in the room with us again, and give thanks for that.

I wanted to make a new post on the site about this, but new posts seem to be disabled, so this was the next best thing. =) Peace.

That is so lovely, thank you for letting us know!!!
I will share the word with friends. I wish I was still in NYC and I would attend, alas I am not so I will be thinking of you all and our dear friend.

Hello, my name is Joey Hochgesang and I was hoping you could help me. I am a Music student at West Virginia Wesleyan College and study under the direction of Dan Hughes. Recently, Dr. Hughes had our school's elite choir perform Denise's choral work, "Where the Wild Things Are," and upon listening to it, my breath was taken away. Her writing is so thorough, full of space and beauty and perfectly placed dissonance.

It has given me cause to choose Denise's music as the subject for my Undergraduate Research paper. After a fair amount of Youtube digging I've only been able to find one or two recordings of her work. Any music, scores, links to publishers, etc. that you could provide would be of great assistance in researching her work.

Thank you,
-Joey Hochgesang

Hi Joey,

I was so happy to read your post, thank you very much for sharing. I always knew Denise's music would live on and inspire others. I've passed your message on to some people and I'm sure everyone here that sees your message would be happy to help as well.

I will be in touch.
Laura
